What people say

“The ambience is undoubtedly one of the stronger selling points of this establishment. Stylish, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, it strikes a pleasant balance between a contemporary café and an upscale bakery. It is the kind of setting that encourages guests to linger a little longer over coffee and conversation. Unfortunately, the pastries do not quite run parallel with the elegance of the surroundings. They are by no means poor, but neither are they particularly memorable. At best, they sit a notch above what one might find at a decent neighbourhood bakery, yet they fall short of laying claim to anything truly special or destination-worthy. One notable advantage is the huge private parking area in the vicinity, a convenience that is becoming increasingly rare and one that certainly enhances the overall experience. Would I return? If economy and practicality are what I am seeking, then yes. The prices are reasonable, the environment is pleasant, and parking is effortless. However, if I am searching for outstanding pastries or a bakery experience that excites and surprises, then probably not. There are simply too many exceptional bakeries and dining establishments nearby competing for attention. In the end, this is a place where the ambience arguably eclipses the food. Comfortable, convenient, and reasonably priced, but not quite distinctive enough to rise above the crowd.”
“Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie is one of those places that people keep coming back to, even with so many new cafés opening around KL. The moment you walk in, you can see why. It has that rustic, slightly European feel, and it does not try too hard. It just works. What stands out is how the space is designed. It feels warm, a bit tucked away from the main road, and you naturally slow down once you are inside. The variety of bread and pastries is quite extensive, so whether you are just grabbing something quick or sitting down for a longer catch-up, it fits both situations. I tend to go back to a few things here like the seafood olio and risotto. The eggplant mango chutney sourdough sandwich is also interesting, a slightly different flavour profile from the usual café options. For something lighter, the tiramisu with a latte works well if you are just taking your time. If you think about it, Levain has managed to stay relevant over the years because it focuses on consistency. It is not trying to constantly reinvent itself. Instead, it offers something familiar that people can rely on. That probably explains why you still see a steady crowd here at different times of the day. It can get quite busy during peak hours though, so a bit of patience helps. 👉 If you’re exploring Kuala Lumpur as a place to live or invest, I share deeper KL living insights on my YouTube channel.”
“Looking for a place to relax and unwind with afternoon tea? This is the place to be! The entire shop has a European retro decor, with ample lighting, creating that cozy atmosphere reminiscent of a cafe or school cafe abroad. 🎻 Every seat is photogenic, it's really photogenic! 📸 The food here is also great! 🥐 Fresh bread 🍰 Desserts 🍝 Pasta 🍕 Pizza. Their pasta is especially delicious!”
“One of the best spots in KL for authentic pastries. The croissants are a must-try, with a beautiful golden crunch and airy interior. All their breads consistently hit the mark in terms of flavor and texture. What makes it even better is the warm hospitality; the staff are attentive and very kind. A perfect place for a slow breakfast or tea time.”
“We loved the ambiance. The place was beautiful and had a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were attentive and thoughtful throughout our visit. They even helped bring out a cake for my husband’s birthday, which made the celebration extra special. The pastries were top notch, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You should definitely try the chicken baguette. It was our favorite item on the menu. It was so good that we went back twice just to have it again. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely return.”
