What people say

“Excellent selection of Thai craft beers with 7 on a rotating tap and more in cans. Superb service by the bar woman Trina who is very polite and always smiling. The first night I tried 2 different hazy IPA’s and 1 IPA, all draft, super tasty and very fresh. We went back the second night and they had all already changed one of the drafts and I was able to try 3 entirely different draft IPA’s, again of great quality. It isn’t cheap, but then again I haven’t come across cheap craft beer anywhere in South East Asia. We didn’t eat at any of the street food stalls, but other people were bringing food back to the bar area and it looked very tasty. If you like craft beer and fancy a change from the usual; Chang, Singha & Leo I’d highly recommend this place.”
“Small but excellent – highly recommended! They have 7 fantastic beers on tap and many more great craft beers from Thai microbreweries in the fridge. The staff member was incredibly friendly, and we discovered some amazing new craft beers while feeling completely at home. Thanks for this wonderful little gem! 🍻”
“Superb range of craft beers in an area awash with Singha etc. Sours, Lagers, IPAs and a decent DIPA on the 7 taps, plus cans and bottles in the fridge (cider and stouts too) Really friendly service, would strongly recommend a visit.”
“Lucky to be Alive is the main spot for craft beer in Fisherman’s Village, Koh Samui. It’s a small, straightforward taproom that prioritises a proper pint over the usual mass-produced lagers found across the island. The Venue It’s a compact, "hole-in-the-wall" style bar with a few tables out front. The atmosphere is relaxed and social, making it easy to have a chat with the staff or other drinkers. It’s air-conditioned inside—a relief in the Samui heat—and the service is generally efficient and knowledgeable. The Beer List The selection usually features 6 to 8 rotating taps and a fridge stocked with around 50 different cans and bottles. You’ll typically find pours from Outlaw Brewing (Loei), whose Gateway IPA is a benchmark for the Thai scene, alongside tropical "juice bombs" like the Phangan Juice from Hop Hog. For something lighter, they often tap Vana Brewing’s Crispy Boy pilsner or citrusy wheat beers from Mahanakhon. They balance these local options with heavy-hitting international imports from breweries like Behemoth in New Zealand and Hawkers in Australia, ensuring there’s always a mix of local character and world-class standards. Supporting the Thai Craft Movement Choosing a local craft beer over a corporate lager is about more than just flavour; it’s a vote for the future of the Thai industry. For decades, Thailand’s beer market has been a duopoly, controlled by massive corporations through restrictive laws that mandated huge minimum production volumes—essentially making it illegal for small, independent brewers to exist. Supporting these local labels matters because: Challenging the Monopoly: Every pint from a brewery like Outlaw or Devanom helps chip away at the corporate stranglehold on the market. Legislative Progress: Recent shifts in law (like the 2025/2026 amendments) have finally started to lower these barriers, but small brewers still face massive advertising bans and high taxes. Your support provides the revenue they need to navigate this legal red tape. Local Innovation: Thai brewers are increasingly using local ingredients—like Jasmine rice, tropical fruits, and indigenous spices—to create a "Thai Terroir" that you simply won't find in a standard bottle of Singha or Leo.”
“A real gem in Koh Samui if you're looking for some great local craft beers. The owner was super friendly and helpful. He explained about the Thai beers and the craft beer situation in Thailand. The place is also pretty comfortable to chill and hang out. And it is in a good location. Would be happy to come back any time.”
