What people say

“When I first arrived at this place, I felt very excited. However, it was not very crowded and many stalls were closed, maybe because fewer visitors are coming. But the location is actually very good—clean, safe, and comfortable, with many clothing sellers around. At the end of the area, there is a food section where you can enjoy live music. It was quite entertaining and made the visit enjoyable. Overall, this place is still an interesting new destination to visit.”
“⭐⭐ Pasar Karat Bazar JB – A Market That Falls Short of Its Potential 20-26, Jalan Segget, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor As someone who genuinely enjoys exploring local markets for their atmosphere, variety, and hidden gems, Pasar Karat Bazar JB was unfortunately a disappointing experience. The fundamental appeal of any good market lies in its diversity — and that is precisely where this one struggles. The overwhelming majority of vendors appeared to be selling near identical products, leaving little incentive to browse beyond the first few stalls. The lack of variety made what could have been an engaging and colourful market experience feel repetitive and uninspiring quite quickly. The food stall offering was equally underwhelming — with only a very limited selection available, one of the great pleasures of visiting a traditional bazaar — sampling local street food and regional flavours — was largely absent here. For a city as vibrant and culinarily rich as Johor Bahru, this market feels like a missed opportunity. With a more curated and diverse mix of vendors and a stronger food presence, Pasar Karat could be so much more. As it stands, it is difficult to recommend as a worthwhile destination when so many more rewarding experiences are available elsewhere in JB.”
“It seems that the photos from other reviews differ, not sure if we are commenting of the same location. I guess what needs to be found from here will be there, not much of cooked food though.”
“A truly nice night market that has everything. Food, clothes, shoes, bags, etc. A very nice place to spend the night walking through the market. Some issues finding parking though.”
“Good value shirts. Nice place for tourists. Came from NZ so prices are good, if not same for some items of clothing. Food is great and a few varieties. Would not arrive til 8pm though. 6pm no one was set up stall. 8pm was perfect. Lively and active place. Bright beautiful lights.”
