“I’m not usually one to place too much weight on rankings or awards, but this bar fully deserves the recognition it receives. From the moment you walk in, the level of service is remarkable. Every member of the team is attentive without ever being intrusive, subtly aware of every guest’s needs from a distance. Anything you might need is never more than a glance away. I decided to explore their Umami menu, and every drink was executed flawlessly. Each cocktail was balanced, thoughtful, and refined. There wasn’t a single drink I would change or improve upon. If I had to recommend two, it would be the Truffle Noir and the Coup de Grâce. Both showcase the creativity and precision behind the bar program. An outstanding experience from start to finish.”

“Finally made my way to Penrose to try their world-class cocktails menu (available until 31 May), and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Each cocktail was thoughtfully crafted with its own distinctive flavour profile — creative, balanced, and genuinely memorable from start to finish. You can really tell there’s a lot of skill and intention behind every pour. A special shoutout to Maria, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout the night. She made the whole experience feel even more enjoyable and personal. Definitely a spot I’d come back to, especially if you appreciate inventive cocktails done right. “We dropped by Penrose after our dinner at ESCA since it is just a few doors away. It was before 9pm, so we got in without any queue. The service was friendly and the vibe was amazing. We tried a couple of their signature cocktails and found them okay. FYI, we prefer classic drinks than fancy cocktails. The bartender is very friendly and mentioned that they can also make classic cocktails like martinis, negronis and gin & tonics. Overall we enjoyed the atmosphere and would definitely return if we are in the neighbourhood.”

“We walked in without a reservation and were initially offered a standing space, but the team quickly found us seats at the bar once they became available. The service was warm and attentive — everyone seemed genuinely passionate about what they do. Special shout-out to Maria for her thoughtful recommendations and for walking us through the drinks menu. The cocktails were on the stronger side, but each had its own distinct character and flavour profile — we tried four, and every one of them was impressive in its own way. Overall, a wonderful experience with great hospitality and craftsmanship. Highly recommend sitting at the bar if you can!”

“⭐️ Don’t come here. This place is racist and two-faced. Waited an hour to get in, only to be told to stand by the wall. A 3-seat spot at the bar was vacant — two groups came and went. We asked if we could sit, they said “too small.” We said we’re fine splitting up, they still said no. Your own rules clearly state: “Bar seats will be assigned based on check-in order.” Then how come locals who showed up later got seats, while we — Chinese customers — had to stand the whole time? Are your rules just for show? Found the same story from other Chinese customers on Dianping. Asia’s 8th best? How much did you pay to get that ranking? If you’re Chinese, save your money and dignity. Don’t go. Zero stars. Get lost.”
