The Line Restaurant

“The Line at Shangri-la Hotel boasts as one the longest buffet line in Singapore. With 16 life stations, one is spoilt for choice. Now, what did I like? The fresh salmon sashimi, roast duck salad, tempera prawns & roast lamb with mint sauce, were my favourite appetisers/salad and main courses. The fresh prawns on ice did not disappoint. As for desserts, the Durian cake was strongly recommended by the staff. Little wonder as the sponge cake sandwiched between the durian cream was moist & light. Just as good was the American cheesecake & Opera cake. The ice cream quality & chendol could be improved. The cheese selection was small & it was tucked away with the salad, making it difficult to find & it was at the start of the buffet sequence when it should be at the end. But Shangri-la always has an advantage of a beautiful ambience which brings the entire eating experience a notch up. By this I mean the beautiful garden experience & the exquisite orchids that the hotel makes an effort to nurture, delighting every visitor. Thank you for wonderful experience - from attentive staff, good food that is beautifully displayed to a lovely ambience so pleasing to the eyes. It is indeed a paradise to behold!”

“Went for the School Holiday Feast lunch buffet today and had a wonderful time! The spread offered a good variety of dishes, and the pricing was very reasonable for the quality and selection available. Service was excellent throughout the meal, with attentive and friendly staff making us feel welcome. A lovely touch was the dedicated kids’ food section, complete with popcorn and cotton candy, which was a big hit with the little ones. It made the whole experience even more family-friendly and enjoyable. We’ll definitely be gathering more family members and returning again during the June holidays!”

“The food and experience was average. I believe The Line should be aiming for higher than that. We came for the festive dinner at 98++ pp and while the food was passable and some dishes more delicious than the rest, it didnt hold a candle to The Colony at the ritz. There were personal touches missing. At the colony, a staff member would bring you around the whole buffet spread to introduce each section. Here, you sit down, and they pour you water without offering other beverage options. The interior feels shabby too. I think it’s due for a renovation. The table we were sat at had blue scratches. The carvings were really good! Props to the chef. Turkey drumstick was tender. Indian naan was great. Cold seafood was nothing to shout about. Crab legs should be served cracked. Finger bowls only appeared upon request. Sushi was mostly tasty! Christmas aesthetics on point but the very appealing Christmas dessert selection didn’t taste as good as they looked. Churros and waffles were left out for a while. Hard and inedible. Final bill came to $470 for 4 of us. I don’t see myself coming back.”

“The food selection is awesome! We simply love the salad section, the Arugula, cheeses, nuts and seeds, olives, cornichions, etc are fantastic! The Beef and Lamb steak are awesome! Satay tastes good, onions were fresh and ketupat is solid! Salmon Belly sashimi is divine 😍 We don’t eat sweet food so we could not enjoy the desserts sections (though you have good spread) We have to miss the Laksa and all the seafood section as we take Kosher Food 3 of us eat Kosher food, so we do not select Pork and seafood (except fish we do eat). The service at The Line is exceptional. I would like to mention a few staff that are impressive : (1) Jason, the Operation Manager. When we arrived, he checked our reservation and mentioned “Kosher”. I nodded my head and Jason politely said, “if there is anything you would like us to make per Kosher, please let me know” I told Jason I love to have the chicken boiled soup. However, it contains scallops. Guess what? He immediately send our orders to the chef to make fresh chicken soup without scallops! We 3 were so impressed with Jason 😘! (2) Gabriella Nair - she is natural, polite and she smiles as she served us. She came to our table to remove our used plates and utensils conscientiously. It is enjoyable to be served by her. (3) Thapu - he came to our table and asked us if we drive! And he provided us with a complimentary parking ticket. This is so awesome for patrons who do not know that complimentary Parking Tickets are provided for diners. Thapu is also observant. He noticed that I love to take wefie, he came forward to offer his service to help us take nice photos for the 3 of us. I am thankful indeed (4) Wan Qi - She helped me with the Bill. She is approachable and polite as well. We are indeed blessed to be served by the above 4 staff who gave outstanding service at The Line. Please convey our heartfelt thanks to them and ask them to keep up the good work. We have an enjoyable lunch at The Line. Thank You team!”

“Very impressive buffet spread 👍👍 We can request for fresh salmon belly sashimi 😋 Almost all the claypot specials were delicious. The Indian station too. Must try the laksa soup. The desserts and ice cream section looks nice but taste just so so only. Pretty crowded for a Friday evening. There is a current promotion for weekday dinner @ $98 per pax one-for-one deal. Very worthwhile.”
