“Baan Landai is a classy spot with a beautiful interior- the traditional indigo "Lanna blue" gives it such a sophisticated feel. It focuses on Northern Thai cooking, and while the food is above average, I can see why some might find it a bit overrated. The Michelin-recommended pork ribs were good, but they didn't exactly blow me away, and my ribeye was a bit under-seasoned. That said, the "survived" crabmeat curry was delicious, and the mango sticky rice was easily the highlight of the meal. Every dish is beautifully presented and the dipping sauces are fantastic. It’s definitely on the pricier side, so while it was a nice experience, I’m not 100% sure I’d be back again. Perhaps I will. The presentation across all the dishes really stands out; it’s clear they put a lot of effort into the aesthetics to match the upscale vibe. You’ll definitely notice the crowd here is a bit more formal, which fits the higher price point. It’s a solid choice if you want a refined atmosphere and some "Lanna" flair, but for the cost, I was hoping for a bit more "wow" factor from the main courses.”
“Baan Landai is a stunning Michelin-recognized spot in Chiang Mai that truly captures a refined yet welcoming ambiance. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, creating a sophisticated atmosphere that feels perfect for a special dinner. Regarding the food, the flavors are undeniably authentic and every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. The presentation of the traditional Thai cuisine was artful, making the meal as much a visual experience as a culinary one. The ingredients tasted exceptionally fresh, and you can really tell there is a high level of skill behind their signature recipes. While the taste was impeccable, the portions were a bit smaller than expected for the price point, which is the only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five. The service was professional and attentive throughout the evening, ensuring we had everything we needed. Overall, it is a fantastic place to enjoy high-quality Thai food in a gorgeous setting. I would definitely recommend visiting Baan Landai if you are looking for a more upscale dining experience in the city.”
“Baan Landai, a Michelin-recognised spot, made for a fitting grand finale to our Chiang Mai trip. The food was competently executed across the board — clean flavours, thoughtful plating, and a menu that reflects the restaurant’s dedication to refined Thai cooking. The crab meat omelette is the star, generously packed with fresh and chunky meat of the crustacean. But the real showstoppers arrived at the end. The desserts, especially the Met Khanoon, stole the evening. This traditional Ayutthaya treat of mung bean paste, coconut, and sugar, delicately coated in egg yolk and served in fragrant coconut cream, was beautifully made and memorable — the kind of dessert that lingers in your mind long after the meal. If there was one misstep, it was the service. Compared to the warm, earnest hospitality we’ve experienced throughout Chiang Mai, the indifference here stood out. Not rude, just disengaged, and the reason it cost them a star. Still, for the food — and that heavenly Met Khanoon — Baan Landai remains worth a stop.”
“Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, it’s clear that local ingredients and recipes are prioritized and quality is top notch. That being said we did have high expectations due to the Michelin recognition- of course we had the pork ribs which we both found to be extremely tender and with a flavorful wine sauce. The savoury leaf wraps were definitely a standout for me- extremely flavorful and sweet morsels which was a great way to start the meal. However, the fermented fish was a bit too salty for my taste. For desert, the pandan was our favorite. In all, plates were presented with great care and the menu was beautifully organized. Service provided was excellent, organized, and sincere. Reservations in advance are a must.”
“Multi year Michelin Thai restaurant Reservation needed otherwise you will be disappointed if u walk in for a table. For appetiser, we ordered the Miang Kham which was excellent! A must try ! Tried Pork Ribs with red wine sauce - 2026 Michelin awarded dish - to me it’s ok 👌🏻 a little different compared to traditional Thai food that you get. Pamela and Shrimp spicy salad was good. 👍 Deep fried ruby fish with chili and pineapple sauce was also good. However, stir fried curry powder with crab meat was disappointing. Not flavourful enough, as a Thai food lover I can suggest you skip this. The herbal tea was refreshing ; also highly recommended- the inhouse signature drink. This place is also suitable for vegetarian as they have vegetarian menu.”
