Cafe Roo Malate - Premium Rooftop Cafe

“What sets Cafe Roo apart from other coffee shops is its atmosphere. The overlooking view of the surrounding buildings from the rooftop offers a unique cozy moment matched by the cool, breezy air. Those who are looking to come for study or work can also enjoy the free WiFi and outlets inside their cafeteria room. In terms of the food and drinks, I was able to try their carbonara, garlic rice, and strawberry cake. The solo carbonara had a creamy taste with its pasta cooked in the right texture, but I hoped for a richer flavor given that the order cost P400. Nonetheless, it was still delicious. The garlic rice worth P70 was also to my liking. As for the strawberry cake worth P280, the icing was just the right level of sweetness. However, my biggest problem with the cake was that the cake is warm rather than cold. I hope the cakes and other desserts on display would be placed in a cooler shelf because they would taste better when eaten cold. In terms of service, the staff was attentive and approachable. My only problem was that the utensils of our food arrived 5-10 minutes after the food has already been served. I hope that next time, the food would not be served until utensils are already available. The price range of their menu is at around P200-600, which is quite in the upper price range of coffee shops that I've tried. This is a detail worth keeping in mind for those who are on a tight budget. Overall, it was a great experience. The atmosphere of the roof top view is definitely the best thing about Cafe Roo. This is perfect for people with a budget of P200-500 who for looking for an different cafe experience.”

Pero, the in-house drinks were a bit underwhelming and quite pricey for the quality. Still, it’s worth visiting for the ambiance and overall vibe just don’t expect too much from the drinks.”

“Yesterday was our first time visiting Cafe Roo. Upon arrival, we were accommodated nicely and found a table on the 3rd floor. While the food is on the pricier side and tastes good, this review focuses on the poor service we received. I want to emphasize that we were calm and respectful toward the staff throughout our visit. My friend ordered an oat milk latte with extra syrup, specifically requesting that only half the usual amount be added. The server informed us that the syrup is served separately for the customer to pour; however, when the latte arrived, the syrup had already been added to the drink. Furthermore, despite numerous follow-ups, we were not provided with service water for over 30 minutes. We weren't even given tissues. Given the pricing, we expected high-quality service, but our experience was quite the opposite. I also couldn't understand the purpose of the two way radio. May I humbly suggest that a waiter/served be stationed per level then they can communicate with the use of radios. We will seriously reconsider whether or not to give Cafe Roo another chance.”
