“This Chinese hotpot restaurant features an à la carte menu with an extensive selection of fresh ingredients, all served in a clean, traditionally inspired setting. Guests can select up to two soup bases—on my visit, I chose the clear soup, and mala options. The clear soup had mushroom and slightly sweet, while the mala broth delivered a gentle heat with fragrant spices, and flavorful. You can feel the authentic mala taste like no others in town. They have two branches; this one in FMI and another at 7-mile. The menu includes a wide variety of meats, seafood, vegetables, and specialty items. Our table ordered mala beef slices, beef tripe, pork slices, pork balls, assorted mushrooms, lotus root, corn, tofu skin, duck blood, pork intestines, black chicken roll and squid. Most ingredients were fresh and came in generous portions. Mala beef slices were the best. I mistakenly chose the fresh duck blood which sounded interesting and it came in liquid jellish type so I had to request to change it with the blood cake type. There’s a well-stocked self-serve sauce bar, and staff members are available to help mix custom dipping sauces upon request. These sauces were perfect. Drinks like herbal tea was included, along with fresh fruits. They have separate drinks menu at additional cost. The passion tea was tasty and refreshing. Matcha bingsu was great too. The dining environment was clean and spacious, with good air circulation that kept the hotpot steam manageable. Prices are reasonable and depending on party size, larger groups may find great value per head. Overall, this is a unique authentic hotpot restaurant with a wide range of quality ingredients and reasonable prices for the satisfying experience. “The food is great. The meats are fresh and the hotpot for both mala and sweet is good! But a lot of smells are compounded into the restaurant and need more ventilation.”
