“Jirakaan is a rare gem for authentic Thai cuisine. My family and I had lunch here yesterday, and it was an incredible experience. We made a reservation for a table by the windows as I personally like natural light. Staff is very responsive and he got exactly what I want. We highly recommend the Tom Kha Gai and the Massaman Gai, the flavors are truly traditional and very hard to find elsewhere these days. What sets this place apart is the staff. They are incredibly knowledgeable and shared the fascinating history of the dishes, tracing recipes from the Ayutthaya period through to Rattanakosin. The atmosphere feels like dining at the home of an old nobleman: beautiful, lush, clean, and steeped in ancient Thai charm. We were all impressed. It was one of our best meals in Bangkok. Only one down point is there are only 4 spots for parking. We had to park somewhere else and walked down the road to the restaurant.”
“Jirakaan Restaurant – Casual Thai Dining We visited Jirakaan Restaurant as a party of two and had an overall pleasant experience. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing, making it a nice spot for a casual meal. We started with the papaya salad, which was fresh and nicely crunchy, though the portion was rather small. The fish cakes were enjoyable, well-seasoned, and satisfying. The standout dish of the night was definitely the green curry with chicken — rich, aromatic, and full of flavor, making it the best dish we ordered. The pad Thai with prawns was just okay, as it leaned a bit too sweet for our taste. Lastly, we tried the minced beef kra pao. While it was acceptable, it lacked the distinctive Thai flavors we were expecting. Overall, Jirakaan Restaurant offers a good atmosphere and some strong dishes, especially the green curry, though a few items could be more authentic and better balanced in flavor.”
“Visited Jirakaan for a family event with a mix of English and Thai guests. The venue is lovely spacious, airy, and comfortable while still being indoors. The staff were all very pleasant and attentive. The food was perfectly fine. well presented and enjoyable, though a bit on the mild side and not as spicy as we expected. That said, there was nothing wrong with it overall, and everyone had a nice meal. A great spot for mixed gatherings and relaxed dining.”
“I recently dined at this Thai restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The flavours were authentic, bold, and beautifully balanced — every dish burst with the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, sour, and savoury. Fresh ingredients and generous portions made each bite memorable. The service was friendly and attentive, and the warm, inviting atmosphere added to the experience. It truly felt like a taste of Thailand in every plate. Highly recommended for anyone craving genuine, flavour-packed Thai cuisine!”
“What an absolute gem of a restaurant! Jirakaan in Bangkok (tucked away on Sukhumvit 51) transported us straight into the heart of authentic Thai cuisine with its elegant take on Rattanakosin-era recipes. From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome and impeccable service set the tone for a truly memorable meal – the staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate, making us feel like honored guests. World-class service, hands down! A huge bonus: Jirakaan offers an extensive halal menu with over 120 dishes, using only halal-sourced meats (no pork at all), making it a fantastic option for Muslim diners seeking authentic Thai flavors without compromise. We dove into some classic dishes, and everything was simply delicious: The chicken satay was perfectly grilled – tender, juicy meat with that irresistible smoky char and a rich, peanutty sauce that had us fighting over the last skewer! The stir-fried morning glory (pak boong fai daeng) was fresh, crunchy, and bursting with garlicky, spicy goodness – a perfect vibrant side! The crab omelette (khai jiao pu) was fluffy perfection, loaded with generous chunks of sweet crab meat – crispy edges and a heavenly texture! And the seafood tom yam? Hands down the best we’ve ever had – that iconic spicy-sour broth was perfectly balanced, intensely flavorful, aromatic, and packed with plump prawns, squid, and fresh herbs. It was addictive from the first spoonful to the last! Every bite celebrated bold, balanced Thai flavors, executed with finesse. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet cozy, ideal for a special dinner or celebrating Bangkok’s culinary heritage. They even surprised us with complimentary dessert - world-class rice puddings 😇! If you’re in Bangkok, do yourself a favor and visit Jirakaan – it’s upbeat, uplifting, downright delicious, and wonderfully halal-friendly. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back. 🇹🇭❤️”
