“I dined at La Maison 1888 in InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, the first and only Michelin-starred restaurant in Central Vietnam, and it was a truly special experience. On the day I visited, Christian Le Squer from Le Cinq (3 Michelin stars) was there in person and served his dishes himself. His signature Spaghetti debout en gratin was the highlight—visually unique and beautifully executed. The top had a light crispness while the inside was soft, rich, and perfectly balanced with truffle, ham, and mushrooms. After one bite, it was easy to understand why this dish is so well known. The Potato Gnocchi “Boulangère” was also outstanding—light, delicate, and almost melting in the mouth. A memorable dining experience, made even more special by the chef’s presence. ✨”

I had placed such implicit trust in its Michelin one-star status and the InterContinental’s prestige that I neglected to read online reviews, particularly the negative ones of La Maison 1888. We ended up spending almost $800USD and feeling empty. I wasn't looking for value for money, but I did have expectations for that price, and clearly, we were utterly disappointed. We opted for the Epicurean and Gourmand set menus. Ironically, the highlights of the dinner were merely the bread and butter. The other dishes were either too salty or indescribably overpowering, completely failing to meet Michelin's principle of preserving the original flavor of the food. Although the service staff was commendable and professional, the pacing was baffling, the meal dragged on for an incredible three and a half hours. For a restaurant of this caliber, the experience was simply unjustifiable.”

“What a fabulous gem! Currently the only Michelin star restaurant in central Vietnam could perhaps be a Two star soon? Everything from the reception area, the bar, the dining room … just exceptional! Of course the food was cooked to perfection with some really beautiful dishes presented and cooked in a perfect way. And the spot! Bucket list to stay at this magnificent hotel. As they say - well worth a visit!”

“The flavors didn’t impress me as much as I had expected; however, the techniques and presentation of the dishes were truly excellent. Moreover, the staff’s attentiveness was outstanding, especially the waitress named Suong. She was very thoughtful—she noticed me rubbing my arms because I felt cold and kindly asked if I needed a scarf before bringing one to me. 100 points for her exceptional service.”
