“I booked and travelled specifically for a HIFU treatment, with extensive WhatsApp communication prior to the appointment confirming the treatment, pricing, and booking details. Everything was booked, confirmed, and ready to go. After spending over an hour each way and 1,400 baht on taxis, I arrived expecting to proceed with the treatment I had clearly booked. Instead, a non-medical staff member pushed a brochure in front of me and told me I “needed” Oligio, priced at around four times the cost, with no explanation as to why the treatment I booked was suddenly unsuitable. When I asked for a doctor’s explanation or medical opinion, I was told I would need to pay an additional 1,000 baht just to speak to the doctor — effectively charging me to justify an upsell that the clinic itself initiated. At no point did anyone: • Explain the clinical reasoning for changing the booked treatment • Offer a medical consultation as part of that decision • Acknowledge or apologise for the wasted time and travel costs • Attempt to resolve the situation The follow-up communication avoided addressing these issues entirely. Despite clear pre-booking communication and confirmation, this experience felt like a bait-and-switch and cash-grab, not a patient-first medical consultation. Informed consent and transparent medical advice should come before sales tactics — not behind a paywall. I would strongly advise others to clarify in writing whether: • The booked treatment will actually be honoured • A doctor consultation is required to proceed • And whether additional fees apply simply to receive an explanation”
