“Our first meal after arriving in Bangkok. Located in the Sukhumvit area, the restaurant seems to attract many Japanese diners. The service was attentive, the ingredients were fresh, and the environment was very pleasant. It’s recommended to make a reservation in advance, and you may want to ask the staff for mosquito repellent if needed. Overall, we were quite satisfied, although the prices are slightly higher compared to many other dining places in Bangkok.”
“If you're looking for a peaceful escape from the Bangkok bustle, Taling Pling at Sukhumvit Soi 34 is a hidden gem that feels more like a charming family estate than a restaurant. The Vibe: A Relaxing Afternoon I dropped by around 5:00 PM and it was the perfect time to visit. The restaurant was not crowded, and I was able to walk in without any wait. The atmosphere is incredibly serene, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating. The spacious layout is clearly designed to host big groups or private parties, yet it remains intimate enough for a solo meal. The highlight of the garden area is the beautiful water feature filled with Kois. If you look closely, you might even spot the tortoise hanging out by the rocks! It really adds to the "slow living" feel of the afternoon. The Food: Flavorful Classics The menu is extensive, but the dishes I tried were standout: • Braised Pork with Egg: The meat was incredibly tender and the sauce had a rich, savory depth that soaked perfectly into the rice. • Crab with Curry Sauce: This was the star—packed with flavor and just the right amount of spice. • White Rice: Fluffy and the ideal vessel for all that delicious curry sauce. Every bite was flavorful and authentic, reminding me why this place has such a long-standing reputation in the city.”
“Another excellent place to eat, service I found a bit lacking, maybe because the restaurant was full, and it is such a big place. We had steamed rice, Tom Yum, shrimp cakes, crab meat curry, fried cotton fish, fried egg in lard (very good), fried catfish, chicken in tamarind sauce, sautéed vegetables, and pepper squid! And for dessert we had several”
“First time trying this TP branch and it was quite a long walk from Thong Lo BTS into a cul de sac. However you will be greeted with a beautiful old Thai house and a nice garden. I was pleasantly surprised by the bustling atmosphere and it was quite popular spot with the Japanese. We wanted to try the grilled pork neck and were disappointed when the waiter said it was sold out. Somehow it was difficult to hunt down this dish, even with the other popular Thai restaurants. We ordered the green curry with fish ball, another TP favourite of ours and unfortunately the waiter got it wrong and served us with beef slices instead. Not wanted to waste food and create a ruckus, we accepted the dish. Luckily the beef was tender and the gravy rich and flavourful. We also ordered a special item Krapow with wagyu minced beef. Flavour was familiar but the beef was very lean. Perhaps some fat added will improve the dish. Another favourite was the cowslip, a vegetable which was hardly seen outside Thailand. It was crunchy and cooked with seafood and vermicelli. More cowslip added would be appreciated though…we had another pork dish to substitute our pork neck and it turned out well. It was liked pork nugget and we loved the special sauce. However the sticky rice included was overcooked and hard. Lastly we ordered sticky date pudding, yes, a very non Thai dessert, and it was delicious. The pudding paired very well with the ice cream and caramel sauce. I think we would be visiting this branch for our next visit to Bangkok. Perhaps we should reserve the pork neck when we do a seat reservation?”
“Real Thai cuisine you can truly count on for every meal. The flavors are authentically Thai and well-balanced, not overly sweet like many places that add too much sugar to please the masses. Taling Ping stays true to traditional Thai taste, letting the ingredients and spices shine naturally. If you’re looking for genuine Thai food without shortcuts, this is a place you can trust. I especially love this branch. The restaurant is located in the owner’s large house, nestled in a quiet, peaceful setting and surrounded by a lush garden. It’s a beautiful place to slow down and enjoy truly authentic Thai food.”
