“The “OG” Taiwanese karinderya for me—I’ve been eating here since my college days, which makes it nearly 20 years now. It’s one of those places that has quietly remained reliable through the years. Like many long-running establishments, prices have naturally gone up due to inflation, but thankfully not to unreasonable levels. More importantly, the food quality has remained consistent, which is probably why the place continues to attract loyal customers. The interior is admittedly a bit gritty, but that’s part of the charm of a true karinderya-style setup: simple, no-frills, and focused entirely on serving good food. Some of their must-try items include the 10-piece xiao long bao, which remains impressively affordable compared to most Chinese restaurants, along with their kiampung, radish cake, and more recently, the malatang hotpot. They also sell a wide range of frozen items, making it a great option for takeout or stocking up at home. It’s a long-standing comfort spot—unpretentious, affordable, and consistently satisfying.”

“went to this place in chinatown and at first it was a bit confusing to go in because there were so many people lining up outside. turns out they were only waiting for desserts. when a woman noticed me, she guided me inside. the food was amazing. the whole buffet was vegan and i asked the woman to make two mixed plates for us. the portions were really generous, the price was super fair, and everyone there was incredibly kind. big recommendation.”

“Good place for affordable vegan food at affordable prices. Distinct taste for the vegstable dumpling, lumpiang Sariwa is full of flavor. Did not get the chance to take a photo of all that we ate though.”

“A small corner spot that sells vege food, sugarcane juice, fresh lumpia, tart, hopia, bbq etc.. maybe due to social media, food bloggers, tictokers, the place has become popular, it is always the most crowded area in ongpin, where young crowds converged.. making people more curious and also want to join the crowd... a feastive atmosphere.”

“As a big tiramisu lover, I was excited to try Vege Select’s Tiramisu, but sadly, it wasn’t for me. The flavor and texture didn’t match the rich, creamy, coffee-forward profile I usually look for in a tiramisu. It wasn’t bad just not the kind of tiramisu experience I personally enjoy. If you’re into lighter or less traditional versions, you might still like it, but for classic tiramisu lovers, it may fall a bit short.”
