Vegan Mahanakhon

“It's in this beautifully restored 120-year-old teakwood colonial-style house on Arun Amarin Road, right near Wat Arun. The ambience feels so elegant and peaceful – perfect for a chill vegan meal in the Old Town area. We started with the mixed dim sum platter. It looked absolutely gorgeous when it arrived, with a nice variety of steamed and deep-fried dumplings to try. Taste-wise, they were decent – nothing bad at all – but they lacked that real depth of flavour I was hoping for. The steamed ones were pretty to look at, but the wrappers felt a bit too thick and there wasn't enough filling inside. The deep-fried options were enjoyable, though still missing something to make them pop. For mains, my pad thai was solid – tasty and satisfying in its vegan version. The green curry was actually really good – rich, aromatic, and well-balanced. The vegan pork belly was interesting with a nice texture (chewy-crisp in the right way), and the flavour was okay, but the crispy garlic on top was way too bitter for me. I think if they'd added some onions or something to balance it, it would've been much better. Service was excellent – super friendly and attentive – and the whole vibe made the meal feel special. The menu has tons more dishes I want to try, so I'd definitely go back next time I'm in Bangkok. Overall, it was a nice experience and I don't regret going at all. The setting alone is worth it, and the food is good... it just needs a little more bold flavour and depth to take it to the next level. I'd give it a solid 7.5 out of 10.”

“One of the best meals ever omg! We went with 6 people and ordered a feast and every dish that came out was 10/10 perfection! I can’t believe how perfect everything was from atmosphere to staff to food. There is even a cat to greet you! Also my husband has celiac and everything is labeled for gluten and they took extra care for our meal. It was very reassuring and delicious and he felt very safe eating here. Everyone needs to eat here!”

“We loved everything about this place! Upon arrival it feels as though you are arriving to somebody’s home. You are asked to leave your shoes on the shoe rack on the porch before entering the beautiful clean Colonial style teakwood home. The entrance is adorned with flowers and each table had yellow orchids. We were given complimentary jasmine water from beautiful ornamental metal cups. We highly recommended the starter platter served on a gold cake stand. We were able to try a bit of everything, they were all delicious. Our favourites were the pandan leaf vegan chicken and noodle ball pork. We had a sour fish soup to share following this and wish we had room to try more because everything was AMAZING!! Staff wen above and beyond helping us plan our trip to grand palace, showing us the route and boat to catch”

Thing to note : they have gluten free and no onion no garlic options too!!! It's in an old bungalow. And surprisingly not as expensive as I thought it would be considering the ambience, food quality and service. Lunch for 2 was lesser than 850 thb”
