“I started working with Common Suits in early 2025 and took delivery of two commissions within six months. I cannot praise them enough. Fellow classic menswear enthusiasts in Singapore are very fortunate to have Common Suits in their own neighbourhood, and given that they have been around for more than ten years, I am very embarrassed at myself for not reaching out to them sooner! I have used many tailors (both Singapore-based and from elsewhere), and Common Suits stands out for many reasons. I primarily choose tailors based on house style, and Common Suits has a very distinctive style that I am very fond of; their lapels having a substantial belly to them. In my opinion, they also have the best looking single-breasted peak lapel design I have come across anywhere. The house’s commitment to innovation and constant improvement is probably what impresses me the most. Despite how many things they have going on (including expansion in the region), the team constantly innovates and has an eye to improving the product. They are constantly trying out new canvas and fabrics, and they know intimately what they are talking about when they make a recommendation. At my very first visit, they used a laser measuring tool to measure me, which I have never seen used in tailoring before. I am inclined to think that this was not just done for spectacle – a longtime friend of mine who is similarly a tailoring enthusiast thought that my first suit with the house fit me better than my other suits! I typically request coats with very little lining, which results in a cooler wearing garment. The team also uses very light canvas, which results in a comfortable, cool wearing garment, but with enough structure for the coat to look smart. In particular, my coats from Common Suits have a very dramatic lapel roll. The team is also incredibly professional in that once they commit to a timeline, the garment will be ready for fitting or delivery at the agreed time, and generally completed very quickly, in my opinion. Prices are also very reasonable for the level of quality. Finally, I am very grateful for the warmth from the team, and Javin, Chanel and Jau have been marvelous hosts to me. I would like to single out Jau in particular because he has been my point of contact, and not only is he incredibly competent, he has gone beyond the extra mile in every interaction to find the optimal solution for me in spite of my many strange requests.
