“Amazing experience, definitely something different then anywhere on the island. The Michelin recommendation is well deserved. It is a family owner restaurant at their home yard. They both are such nice and warm people that there is no wonder that the food is great. The wife is cooking and does that just amazing! The husband is hosting and serving food. The food is really amazing, at each meal we had to say “ Ooo Wow!”, the atmosphere is very cozy and nice, overall great experience and definitely recommended.”

“Dear, Phangan is a love letter to a Phangan that once was - a fisherman’s island. It’s a true sea to table restaurant with most of the ingredients sourced right there. The food was delicious, the atmosphere rustic, the service superb. It attempts to remind us of a simpler time and invites a sense of appreciation for the island’s offerings. The dishes are meant to be shared family style. It’s worth noting that if you’re a party of 2 or less, they will serve you fewer tasting dishes, so I’d recommend coming as a party of 3 or more to taste the full menu. I went with a party of 3 and we left very full and couldn’t finish some of the later dishes (which we asked to take to go). And for the vegetarians complaining in some of the previous comments, I think they’ve lost the plot. This place is quite magical and absolutely earned its Michelin recommendation.”

“I have eaten loads of really good food but I was presented with 2 of the best plates of food I have ever been lucky enough to eat in my life thus far. Which, considering it was a surprise set menu, is pretty cool. The owners and staff were all really lovely, food came fast and the whole experience was a 10/10. And they have a lovely dog 🥰”

“We were a group of six and had booked in advance, mentioning that I would need a vegetarian option. We even reminded the staff again before service began, just to be safe. When the first course arrived, nothing was served for me. I waited around 20–25 minutes while everyone else ate. The next course replaced prawns with dragon fruit, which turned what should have been a savoury dish into something closer to a spicy fruit salad. Later, while two fish dishes were served to the table, my alternative became scrambled eggs with greens and rice. Again, timing wasn’t coordinated, and I was left watching the rest of the table eat more than once. The pattern continued through the meal. Courses arrived for everyone else without explanation of when mine would come. It wasn’t just about the food itself — it was the repeated lack of communication and structure that made the experience uncomfortable. I spoke with the owner, who explained that they are primarily a fish restaurant and that the vegetarian menu is limited. That would have been completely understandable had it been clearly communicated at the time of booking. At this price level, I believe coordination and transparency are essential, especially for a shared tasting-style experience. Unfortunately, the evening felt disjointed and left me feeling excluded at my own table. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this restaurant for vegetarians or vegans unless expectations are clarified very clearly in advance.”

“Found this place because we wanted to have some nice seafood - Dear Phangan didn’t disappoint at all! Each dish is bursting with flavour - and all with oh so fresh ingredients. Atmospheres and services are also very inviting and warm, and seeing so many Japanese antique crafts in the middle of jungle was a nice touch. and even Japanese Shiba inu 🐕 Can’t wait to come back in our next trip to the island! Arigatoooo”
