“I had a chance to try the Japanese restaurant here, and everything was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed every dish, both savory and dessert. The atmosphere is wonderful, with indoor tables, counter seats in front of the chef, and outdoor seating as well. The views are beautiful, and there’s also a nice sip bar and beach bar area. Overall, I really loved everything about this place.”
“After drinks at their beautifully situated Woobar (but with over loud, mind-numbing music), we were then taken by electric buggy to this delightful beachfront restaurant, where we sat at a table on the beach. The Japanese menu had a good selection of sushi and sashimi and then some very interesting options for main courses. It was difficult to decide, but eventually we shared some smaller dishes: * Edamame beans with sea salt * Selection of sashimi and nigiri * Thai spider roll: soft shell crab tempura, coriander chipotle mayo, pickle papaya And then for main, we had: * Andaman Sea Snapper: broccolini, dashi beurre blanc with ikura and avruga * Orange Miso Duck Breast: Home made tonkatsu, kinako and barley risotto, celeriac, nameko Everything was excellent. The highlight for me was the soft shell crab - really superb. The fish and duck dishes were also really good and it was so lovely sitting on the beach, watching the sky change colours into dark. The service from Pablo and his team was excellent and they presented my partner with a lovely little birthday cake. A very nice evening BUT they had similar mind-numbing music as their Woobar playing far too loud. The view and atmosphere was so lovely and then wrecked by inane noise. They did turn it down when asked, which was nice—but really, should guests have to work this hard for a bit of relaxing ambience? Restaurants and bars, please: look at your surroundings, look at your guests, and maybe—just maybe—pick music that reflects your special place, and doesn't sound like a car alarm having an existential crisis! “The food was so so, decoration was a bit old and it was hot inside the restaurant. I had hamachi which was good only if they served it with deep fried seaweed (which was not served at first). Maki roll was tasteless.”
“Namu is located in the W hotel which is in and of itself a STUNNING establishment. The hotel is located closer to the ocean so we were escorted from the hotel lobby in a club car. The service and experience were absolutely wonderful. From the very kind and smiley hostesses to the food (VERY generous portions) We had - waguy truffle gyoza - OUT of this world - the edamame beans - miso soup - the broth was rich and so flavourful - ebi furai roll - think of it as a shrimp tempura with some thai flavour (some kaffir lime and lemongrass notes which added so much uniqueness to the dish) - wasabi mashed potatoes - such a pleasant suprise, the wasabi taste was so subtle - garlic fried rice - this dish is hard to mess up, but when it's done right, it's important to give the cooks credit so Namu has full credit on doing this one very well! - crispy rice tuna - these were very good but not WOW / out of this world :) The entire ambiance was really nice too, with the open kitchen to watch the chefs do their magic. One thing to note, the AC is pretty up there, so bring a jacket! The staff was very kind to lend me a big scarf/blanket to keep me warm though.”
“We ate at Namu while staying at the OUTSTANDING W hotel. The setting of the restaurant is beautiful with great service (they even play the gong and greet every entering guest which is quite fun haha). But I do think the food itself, while mostly fresh and tasty, is not really authentic Japanese and is quite expensive for what it is. Nonetheless if you are looking for a splurge it’s a nice restaurant. We did prefer ‘The Kitchen Table’ more ;)”
