“The history of Thanying restaurant is rooted in the kitchens of the Thai royal family. The restaurant was named in honor of Her Serene Highness Princess หม่อมเจ้าหญิงศุลัภวังเวง วิสุทธิ. She served as a princess and the head chef of the royal kitchen at Sukhothai Palace, cooking for Queen Rambhai Barni (the queen consort of King Rama VII).When a new king later ascended to the throne and introduced his own retinue of palace kitchen staff, Princess Sulabh’s specialized team faced displacement. To preserve their extraordinary culinary skills and ensure they remained employed, her son, Mom Rajawongse Sorut Visuddhi (famously known as Khunchai Jack), decided to open a public restaurant. Khao chae(usually only between March and May ), but they are serving it all year round.”

“The atmosphere is really beautiful, elegant, calm, and perfect for a nice dinner setting in Silom. The food was okay, but honestly more average than memorable. Still, if you’re going for the ambiance and a comfortable evening, it’s a lovely spot.”

“Wow I'm quite amazed with the quality of food n the prices, Thanying is definitely better than several Michelin starred Thai restaurants i have been to. The flavours are very authentic, the portions are quite substantial and every dish is very delicious. Kudos. What more the restaurant is located in a beautifully retrofitted colonial bunglow, the deco is very beautiful too. For the 10 dishes including desserts, we only paid little more than 2,200 baht.”
