“Tonkin Cottage is a hidden gem that’s easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. You’ll find it tucked away up a flight of stairs on the second floor. The ambiance is very intimate and cozy, making it a great spot to relax. The coffee is excellent. I tried the Egg Cream Coffee and it felt more like a rich dessert than just a drink—perfect if you have a sweet tooth like I do. I’ve heard the salt coffee is amazing as well, so I’ll have to come back for that. I’m giving it 4 stars because the service was quite slow during my visit. It took a while for the staff to notice me, take my order, and get the table wiped down. Overall though, the quality of the coffee makes it worth the climb!”

“I’m going to miss this place. For a week in Ho Chi Minh this became my regular local cafe. I would take the salted coffee or egg coffee. So delicious. The cafe itself has a nice vibe if you want to quietly read a book or take a breather from the city. I wish we had these in London. The best coffee I’ve ever had”

Located on Lý Tự Trọng Street, the café offers a cozy yet modern atmosphere, making it ideal for both quiet coffee breaks and casual meet-ups. The egg coffee comes highly recommended—its quality is excellent, with clean, well-balanced flavors that reflect careful bean selection and precise brewing techniques, though it leans slightly sweet for my taste. Specialty coffee lovers will certainly appreciate the consistency and craftsmanship here. However, the salt coffee was a bit underwhelming, especially compared to the version I’ve enjoyed at THE WORK SHOP (27 Ngô Đức Kế), which I found more refined.”

Their egg and salt coffee was rich, smooth, and full of flavour — definitely one of the best local coffee spots I’ve tried.
