“Tucked away in the charming streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, this seafood restaurant is an absolute gem for anyone who loves fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared dishes. From the moment you sit down, you can sense the care and dedication that goes into every plate. The ingredients are clearly hand-picked and carefully selected, resulting in seafood that tastes exceptionally fresh and vibrant. One of the most memorable parts of the experience is the owner, who personally takes the time to guide you through the best way to enjoy each dish. Whether it’s showing you how to mix the proper sauces or how to pair certain flavours for the perfect bite, this personal touch makes the meal feel both educational and incredibly enjoyable. It truly feels like being welcomed into someone’s home kitchen. The food itself is generous in portion and rich in homemade character. Every dish carries a sense of authenticity, as if it were prepared with both tradition and pride. The standout for me was the tiger prawns—juicy, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavour. They were easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The service throughout the meal was warm and friendly, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you feel taken care of from start to finish. If you’re exploring the Old Quarter and craving high-quality seafood made with heart, this restaurant should absolutely be on your list.”
“This sweet little restaurant came up in a search for seafood restaurants in the old quarter. It sits next to its sister restaurant which serves the same menu. Can I just say how kind and sweet are the staff? They were attentive but unobtrusive with all the diners and were especially kind to a little boy at the table next to us who was probably tired from too much sightseeing to have much interest in eating the meal his parents were enthusiastically tucking into. They served us free soup and tofu and even instructed us how to add different elements like rice and herbs to properly enjoy the dishes like locals. The fried tofu cubes in a tomato broth were chewy yet tender and had a lovely light sweet flavor from the broth we were told to eat it with lettuce and herbs and dip it into a sauce. Next, they served us a tasty piping hot, clear chicken broth with shredded greens that may have included spinach and sweet pea leaves. Next came what we actually ordered: morning glory sautéed with garlic, whole crab, sautéed with garlic butter, and lightly spicy garlic butter prawns. The shellfish were paradoxically rich yet light. We were surprised to see diners at all the other tables eating bun cha, pho and nem (fried spring rolls). While all of the foods looked delicious, and everyone was clearly enjoying their dinners, I felt people were missing out on the seafood. If you go here, please try the seafood! They also have oysters, clams, including razor clams, and all manner of snails. The owner showed us a laminated narrative of his life experience leading up to his restaurant entrepreneurship. There was even a photo of him with President Clinton, from a time when he cooked a meal for him.”
“A lovely hidden gem among a throng of restaurants. Family run and heart achingly friendly with their hospitality. The seafood was fresh and portioned perfectly. Great price for a meal that feels home cooked. The owner came from humble beginnings and is really killin it out there. My husband and I got squid and jack knife clams which came with rice, soup, fried egg, and tofu. Would 1000% recommend! Also, they had a robust amount of vegan and vegetarian options.”
“Should have known better than to walk into a place with over 1,100 reviews and a perfect five-star rating, but the experience didn’t quite match that score for me. The dining room was filled mostly with tourists, which in Hanoi is usually a sign to adjust expectations. The food fell a bit short in my opinion. The clams included a few that hadn’t opened, so we left them, and the half-kilo of local shrimp didn’t taste as fresh as I’d hope. Again, just my personal impression, but it didn’t reflect the flawless rating. The atmosphere was fine and the staff were friendly. The dining area, however, felt cramped for how many plates were on the table, and nothing was cleared until the end even though space was tight which the waiting staff could clearly see. Overall, it wasn’t a bad meal, just not at the level the rating suggests. For seafood, I think it’s worth heading slightly out of the Old Quarter to more local spots like Nhà Hàng Hải Sản Biển Đông, which we’ll try next time.”
“The food is super delicious Recommend steamed octopus, oyster, buncha and clams! The staff will recommend the best cooking method to you so you can ask them The staff is so nice that even feed my boyfriend to teach us how to eat the food in a correct way We have an enjoyable time in this restaurant!”
