Orito , Hartamas, KL

“A few days ago I went to Orito's (Hartamas) for breakfast. Small but nice local place. The pastry selection was a bit restricted, so we had 2 doughnuts. They were good, soft and not at all greasy. Better custard than pistachio. I would like to try the TTDI store hoping to find a wider selection of pastries.”

“I thought the donuts would be spectacular. It was not bad. But nothing special though. The coffee was nice. The service was good. The overall ambiance is fine. Trying to be an industrial rustic vibes. I just hope to have a better lighting to set mood, add other items in the menu for additional choices.”

“Was in the area so stopped by as I was craving a pain au chocolat. What a treat! Light, flaky, and plenty of chocolate (but also not too much). Bigger than what you’d get in France but this might be the best one I’ve had in KL. I tried a matcha latte for the first time.. it’s not for me but no stars lost because of that, I’m sure someone else would’ve liked it.”

“As someone who has worked in a French bakery the standout here is the Yuzu-Lime Lemon Choux pastry— and that is ultimately what I would come back for of all the things we tried. Something about the choux seemed to be off for the paris brest (see photo. The bake/texture seemed off) but the generous helping of the delicious pistachio and praline was good. Service was also great! The only thing about this place that I dont understand is the seating. Why have concrete, backless stools, and no padding. You can’t even rest along the bench at the wall because some decor juts out at head-level. Don’t you want people to sit comfortably and enjoy their food/drinks? Overall it is a decent place to pick up pastries to-go, but we prefer other local bakeries where the bakes are consistent, and we can be comfortable and actually focus on the delicious food. If the food is delicious and my bum hurts after 30 seconds of sitting in your cafe— it ultimately takes my attention away from the deliciousness. This brutalist architecture may be pretty on instagram but it is certainly not functional for an enjoyable morning to eat donuts with your family! Please consider padding at the very least. And some chairs with backs :-) thank you.”
